Foot and Ankle Steroid Injections
Dungannon Foot Clinic is one of only a small number of practices offering foot and ankle steroid injections. These injections prove very successful in reducing pain and resolving symptoms in the foot and ankle. All injections are performed under ultrasound guidance by our highly experienced Orthopaedic ICATS Podiatrists. Both ICATS Podiatrists have been trained by Orthopaedic surgeons in advanced practice and steroid injection therapy. Jarlath and Colum continue to work alongside Surgical teams in both the NHS and private sectors.
Dungannon Foot Clinic is the first choice for advanced treatments for foot and ankle conditions. We receive referrals from colleagues in Ulster independent and Kingsbridge hospitals as well as physiotherapy, podiatry and GP referrals.
How do I know I need insoles? If you are experiencing foot, ankle, knee or lower back pain, the symptoms may be as a result of your feet. Pain, flat feet, poor balance, and abnormal shoe wear are all signs you should consider insoles
Shockwave therapy is an effective, non-invasive treatment of injured soft tissues, specifically tendon and plantar fascia, when an injury reaches a chronic non-healing state. A safe alternative to surgery or steroid and other treatment injections, shockwave therapy, is clinically proven to stimulate metabolic reactions.
Gait analysis investigates how the body moves. At Dungannon Foot Clinic, we use the latest technology to assess body mechanics, muscle activity, and foot and ankle posture during walking and running. By analysing a person’s three-dimensional gait, we are able to diagnose dysfunction and provide the correct musculoskeletal treatment to optimise and improve performance.
Dungannon Foot Clinic provides gait analysis assessment using digital cameras, computerised software and foot scanning technology to capture three-dimensional biomechanical information.
This information, along with your medical examination, allows the clinician to provide expert advice and the correct treatment strategy to resolve your condition.
Foot problems are common in people with diabetes. They can happen over time when high blood sugar damages the nerves and blood vessels in the feet. The nerve damage, called diabetic neuropathy, can cause numbness, tingling, pain, or a loss of feeling in your feet.
Dungannon Foot Clinic uses 3D scanning technology to ensure accurate custom-made orthoses/insoles. It was proud to be one of the first clinics in Northern Ireland to offer this innovative technology to patients.
Not only does this foot scanning technology ensure a perfect 3D image of the feet it ensures that the patient receives a comfortable prescriptive device to address their symptoms and resolve pain and discomfort.
Orthopaedic conditions of the Foot and Ankle
There are various types of foot deformities, such as hallux valgus, hallux varus, pes cavus, pes planus, hallux rigidus, hammer toe, claw toe, mallet toe, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, foot arthritis, congenital clubfoot, metatarsus adductus, and diabetic foot, that affect children, adults, and elderly population.
Shin splints refer to the pain and tenderness along or just behind the large bone in the lower leg. They develop after hard exercise, sports, or repetitive activity. Shin splints cause pain on the front or outside of the shins or on the inside of the lower leg above the ankle.
Your Achilles tendon connects your heel bone to your calf. If it’s overly stressed, you can get Achilles tendinitis, the main cause of Achilles tendon pain. If untreated, it can lead to an Achilles tendon rupture.
