Foot and Ankle Steroid Injections

Everything you need to know about your Steroid Injections

Dungannon Foot Clinic is one of only a small number of practices offering foot and ankle steroid injections.  These injections prove very successful in reducing pain and resolving symptoms in the foot and ankle. All injections are performed under ultrasound guidance by our highly experienced Orthopaedic ICATS Podiatrists. Both ICATS Podiatrists have been trained by Orthopaedic surgeons in advanced practice and steroid injection therapy. Jarlath and Colum continue to work alongside Surgical teams in both the NHS and private sectors.

Dungannon Foot Clinic is the first choice for advanced treatments for foot and ankle conditions.  We receive referrals from colleagues in Ulster Independent and Kingsbridge hospitals as well as physiotherapy, podiatry and GP referrals.

This treatment is ideal for patients experiencing foot and ankle joint pain, plantar fasciopathy (heel pain), Mortons neuroma and bursitis.

This medicine will help reduce swelling and inflammation in the injected area. The local anaesthetic injection gives immediate pain relief, while the slower-acting steroids injected may take 48 hours to 2 weeks to take effect. The anti-inflammatory effect of steroids wears off in around 8 weeks.

The process includes a consultation with our Orthopaedic ICATS Podiatrist. You will be provided with a diagnosis and treatment plan. You will be advised of the risks and benefits of steroid injections. Following this, an injection will be performed under ultrasound imaging guidance.

We have 20 years of combined experience in steroid injections experience with Steroid Injections.
